Windows 10 users worldwide are facing massive outages due to a new CrowdStrike update, causing PCs to get stuck on the recovery screen. This issue has disrupted operations across airports, companies, banks, and government offices globally. Users have shared images on social media showing their screens stuck on the recovery page with a message stating, “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly. If you’d like to restart and try again, choose Restart my PC below.”

CrowdStrike has acknowledged the issue on a support page, attributing the crashes to problems with the Falcon sensor. The company stated, “CrowdStrike is aware of reports of crashes on Windows hosts related to the Falcon Sensor. Symptoms include hosts experiencing a bugcheck/blue screen error related to the Falcon Sensor. Our Engineering teams are actively working to resolve this issue, and there is no need to open a support ticket.” Users globally have reported the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) issue on social media, with some sharing potential workarounds, such as renaming the CrowdStrike driver to bypass the BSOD loop.
Crowdstrike Falcon is widely deployed for endpoint protection. The issue has far reaching consequences and will take a longer time to recover than expected as BSOD issues will require manual intervention. Users are expected to reboot their systems manually, enter into safe-mode and make the correct update as when Crowdstrike provides it.
