June 3, 2025 | Palo Alto, CA – Rubrik has expanded its strategic use of AMD EPYC processors across its Zero Trust Data Security platform, aiming to enhance performance, improve efficiency, and enable scalable AI-ready cloud deployments.
🔄 Hybrid-first era demands new muscle
As enterprises shift from traditional on-prem setups to hybrid and public cloud environments, Rubrik is aligning its infrastructure to match. According to Rubrik’s 2025 State of Data Security report, nine in ten IT leaders are now managing hybrid environments. Co-founder and CTO Arvind Nithrakashyap described this transition as “one of the most important events in the history of business computing,” noting that Rubrik will lead its future product roadmap with AMD’s technology stack.
💡 Performance, savings, and scalability
Rubrik originally adopted AMD EPYC CPUs in 2018 for its E1000 Series appliance. Since then, nearly half of Rubrik’s cloud-native protection workloads have shifted to AMD-based virtual machine instances on AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud. The company is now expanding EPYC support across leading OEM platforms, including Dell and HPE, with Cisco support expected to follow shortly.
For customers, this translates to enhanced compute performance, lower energy consumption, and improved total cost of ownership. Rubrik cites capital expenditure savings of 5–10 percent, making EPYC a cost-effective choice in addition to its performance and energy advantages.
🌍 Cloud-native support and regional flexibility
Rubrik also plans to roll out AMD-based support for Rubrik Cloud Cluster across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and Oracle Cloud by the end of July. This expansion ensures broader availability, enabling customers to deploy Rubrik solutions across more regions and availability zones to support data residency and compliance needs.
The platform’s strengthened support for AMD processors also reflects growing customer interest in reducing environmental impact. EPYC’s high core density and power efficiency give Rubrik’s users a greener option for large-scale, high-throughput workloads.
🤝 A word from AMD
AMD’s Derek Dicker, Corporate VP and GM of Data Center Products, noted that the EPYC platform helps partners like Rubrik meet the growing demands of data security while achieving sustainability goals. With Rubrik scaling its use of EPYC across both hardware and cloud environments, the partnership reinforces AMD’s position in the cybersecurity and resilience space.
🚀 What’s next?
Rubrik’s AMD-centric roadmap will drive broader cloud-native deployment options, deeper AI integration, and improved economics for customers securing their hybrid environments. As AI, ransomware threats, and compliance mandates escalate, this renewed commitment to AMD EPYC could prove to be a defining infrastructure advantage.
